Contessa di Radda Gran Selezione Chianti Classico DOCG 2019 - Geografico
Tasting notes
This wine boasts a deep ruby red color with garnet reflections. The nose offers complex aromas of ripe cherries, blackberries, violets, tobacco, and spices. On the palate, it is full-bodied with a harmonious balance of vibrant acidity, firm yet velvety tannins, and flavors of cherry, raspberry, licorice, and dark chocolate. The finish is long and persistent, with lingering notes of red fruit and spice. An elegant wine with excellent aging potential.
Why we like it
“Contessa di Radda” celebrates the millennial Chianti Classico history, paying homage to the illustrious Willa of Tuscany. A strong and courageous woman, Willa held the helm of Tuscany in the difficult years of the 10th century. In 978, she founded the Badia Fiorentina, the oldest Benedictine monastery in Florence, giving the city a first-rate religious and cultural center. To express her munificence, the noblewoman donated three Chianti Classico vineyards to the monastery, including Radda lands, forging the legend of the "Contessa di Radda”.
Pairings
It pairs wonderfully with stews, truffles and aged cheeses.
